Today’s processing task was about programming a music player. There are several ways to implement music tasks (playing, recording etc.). I took the Minim library. Another one is the Ess audio library. I heard from my colleague Jürg Stalder that Minim didn’t work on his Mac Book and therefore he realized it with Ess – and as we can see, it works too.

After “snowing” Apple’s Leopard (I did a completely new install) I installed Adobe Acrobat 9. The installation run through quite well without errors. But then I saw, that Adobe’s PDF Printer is missing in the printer section… (continue reading…)

Also the audio-part is covered by the multimedia module at HSLU. This time we had to use the free audio editor and recording application Audacity. Audacity is cross-platform and is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD.

After reinstall of my MacBook with the new MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard I wanted to setup and establish a VPN connection to the firm. Not even installing (through the webbrowser) the needed software wasn’t possible. So at first I thought it must be something with company’s access-policy – but it wasn’t and my colleague at work told me, that it should work…

Today in ‘Multimediatechnik’ we had the exercise to write some processing apps.

Processing is an Open-Source programming language and integrated development environment built for the electronic arts and visual design communities, which aims to teach the basics of computer programming in a visual context, and to serve as the foundation for electronic sketchbooks.

While setting up my new blog and adding some useful plugins, I asserted that my hoster’s (Hoststar – Multimedia Networks AG) default php handler is version 4.3.11 … a bit out of date I think (actual version is 5.2.x respectively 5.3.x).

After some research and try-and-error I found an easy way to change the handler without getting in contact with the support unit – thanks to my studies colleague Thomas Galliker and to Google. (continue reading…)

Beside of my daily work, I’m studying at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Engineering & Architecture in ICT Business Solutions. Therefore I’ll surely post something about the topics we did at school.
