According to Wikipedia, “Image editing” encompasses the processes of altering images, whether they be digital photographs, traditional analog photographs, or illustrations. Images are stored in a computer in the form of a grid of picture elements, or pixels. These pixels contain the image’s color and brightness information.

In our case, we altered digital photos and learned mor about how to manipulate pixels and techniques to overlay several images. (continue reading…)

Also playing and generating MIDI sounds with Processing is quite easy. I did a small applet which plays a choosen MIDI-File and generates some sounds. (continue reading…)

Today’s processing task was about programming a music player. There are several ways to implement music tasks (playing, recording etc.). I took the Minim library. Another one is the Ess audio library. I heard from my colleague Jürg Stalder that Minim didn’t work on his Mac Book and therefore he realized it with Ess – and as we can see, it works too.

Today in ‘Multimediatechnik’ we had the exercise to write some processing apps.

While setting up my new blog and adding some useful plugins, I asserted that my hoster’s (Hoststar – Multimedia Networks AG) default php handler is version 4.3.11 … a bit out of date I think (actual version is 5.2.x respectively 5.3.x).

After some research and try-and-error I found an easy way to change the handler without getting in contact with the support unit – thanks to my studies colleague Thomas Galliker and to Google. (continue reading…)
